Long days, cold night,
A search that donned these endless roads,
For miles and miles my feet have tread,
A quest for years to ends untold,
Paint for me a picture,
A mighty tower in the foreground,
It never sinks, it never falls,
So it conquers all.
Lost and shrouded, without direction,
I've wandered these streets alone,
No beginning, no end in sight,
Without a sound I close my eyes,
Pen for me a fiction,
A mighty father in the background,
He never writes, he never calls,
Another mile on my own...
A thousand miles don't seem so far away,
Not if you created the moonlight,
A wandering soul is never easy to tame,
When theres a long and winding road outside.
You go to prepare a place for me,
But never am I led to this promised land?
Youd said there'd be light, and life,
But here in the dark, alone I stand...
Father, why have you forsaken me?
Take me in your arms,
Its not too late for me,
Spare me of your scars,
Another night slips away from me,
So close and yet so far,
Salvation is plain to see,
If I could only reach that star,
You can make my strength your own, See my life through your eyes, As your life will be seen through mine, The son becomes the father, and the father... the son.
