Office Hours | Writing the "Ode to Sorrow for "Summer of Sorrow"

As you all know we are deep into post-production, and that includes developing an original score to help highlight the drama of the film. In the script, writer/producer Robin Hawkins called for what she called an "Ode to Sorrow", so co-composers Luke Adkins and Gus Cadle set out to write a main theme suitable to such a title. Here we see Gus recording the main melody over Luke's foundation of acoustic guitar, helping to bridge the honest and simple sound of Appalachian Americana with the drama and theatricality of the symphony.
