To the wife of my youth:
We came to one another by sheer happenstance, both of us at the lowest points of our lives. After searching for you for many years, I had finally given up, and suddenly, there you were in the self-checkout at Kroger. I worked up the courage to approach you, and just six short months later we were married. It was an impromptu ceremony, with none of the pomp and circumstance that is usually found at such an affair. Nonetheless, we made unbreakable vows before God and man, vows that remain unbroken to this day, vows that I intend to take to the grave with me, forever unbroken. No matter the trials we face, I will cling to you. Even when our children are grown, and the calls home have grown less frequent, I will cling to you, the wife of my youth. Whether you are 22 or 92, you will always be that same girl I married that day, one year ago. Happy anniversary, Rose. Here's to many, many more.
